BRENT WORKING
WITH BLIND & LOW VISION CHILDREN,
ROYAL NEW ZEALAND FOUNDATION OF THE BLIND HEAD OFFICE – THUR 27 &
FRI 28 SEPT 2007.
In August of 2007 Brent was asked to facilitate a cartooning workshop for a group of children from the deaf community of South Canterbury
The following month, he met with staff of the Foundation of the Blind and was given the challenge of conceptualising two drawing workshops for blind and low-vision children, in Christchurch. Being visually-impaired himself (since the age of eleven), Brent rose to the challenge. And during two days in late September, he ran two workshops in three-dimensional cartooning; one using clay and the other fabric & tactile materials.
As you can see in the photos, everyone taking part (including children, their siblings, parents, sighted-guides, members of the Foundation) had a great time!!

A big THANKS to all the staff at the Foundation of the Blind for helping to make this happen, & all your invaluable support over the two days.
